The Diagnostic Intuition Support is a tool for healthcare professionals to support the interpretation of Covid-19 rapid test results. It shows at a glance the probability of a true-positive or true-negative test result (positive and negative predictive values; PPV and NPV). The tool does this for all tests that are approved in Germany and according to the current infection situation and the patient’s specific situation. That way, physician’s intuition regarding the patient’s individual situation can be incorporated into the assessment. Our studies have also shown that the use of this tool measurably improves the intuitive understanding of the relationships between sensitivity, specificity, prevalence of a disease, and the positive and negative predictive values after only a short time (manuscript in preparation).
